Promoting Scientific Growth and Innovation, IASST Marks 54th DST Foundation Day with Visionary Insights

The Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) celebrated the 54th DST Foundation Day on 3rd of May 2024, marking a significant milestone in science and technology. The Department of Science & Technology (DST), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, plays a pivotal role in fostering innovation nationwide. As a part of this celebration, eminent experts from the scientific fraternity delivered lectures and a panel discussion on the topic “Role of Scientists for the Development of Rural Livelihood in NE India: Improvement of Education, Economy, Health and Hygiene Conditions.”
Dr. Kamatchi Sankaranarayanan, Asst. Prof. IASST opened the session, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Munima B. Sahariah, Assoc. Prof., IASST.
In his inaugural speech, the Honorable Director of IASST, Prof. Ashis Kr. Mukherjee highlighted the department’s accomplishments and emphasized its mission to provide a robust scientific platform for transferring science and technology (S&T) research within the scientific community. He emphasized how IASST has been advancing its goals and launching ground-breaking programs that positively impact society.
Distinguished speakers delivered presentations during the lecture session, including Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, Vice-chancellor of Assam University, Prof. Amal Chandra Kakati, former director of the Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, and Prof. Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri, former vice-chancellor of Tezpur University. The presenters discussed how important it is for scientists to support the development of rural livelihoods in Northeast India in various fields, including health, education, and the economy. Following the insightful talks, a lively panel discussion took place, giving attendees deep insights from the panelists.
