IASST Empowers Women: Accelerating Progress through Innovation and Entrepreneurship on International Women’s Day

8th March 2024, Guwahati: The Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) organized a series of impactful initiatives on International Women’s Day to recognize and celebrate women’s pivotal role in driving innovation and progress.

Under the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” IASST orchestrated a day-long session featuring eminent speakers who shed light on the significance of women’s contribution to national advancement. Professor Ashis Kr. Mukherjee, the esteemed Director of IASST, inaugurated the session with a poignant speech emphasizing the indispensable role of women in propelling the nation forward. Dr. Arundhati Devi, Chairman of ICC, gracefully welcomed the attendees, setting a tone of inclusivity and empowerment for the occasion.

Central to the event was an insightful and interactive panel discussion highlighting the power of women in driving progress across all sectors—esteemed panelists, including Smt. Violet Baruah, a retired IPS officer; Dr. Geetima Das Krishna, Head of the North East Desk at Invest India; Dr. Alakananda Das, President of the Indian Asean Business Council; and Dr. Aruna Deb Roy, Associate Dean & Associate Professor at the Royal School of Commerce, Royal Global University, shared their invaluable insights and experiences, resonating with the audience on the importance of inclusivity and self-resilience in achieving entrepreneurial success.

In line with its commitment to fostering collaboration and networking opportunities for women entrepreneurs, IASST organized an exhibition showcasing sustainable products and handlooms. This initiative aimed to raise awareness, provide motivation, and empower women to excel in the entrepreneurial landscape.
