As part of the global commemoration of the International Day of Yoga, the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) hosted a vibrant celebration centered around the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.” The event, like previous years, focused on self-improvement and societal well-being, emphasizing yoga as a powerful transformative tool. As part of the celebrations, the IASST fraternity organized a three-day pre-yoga demonstration and training programme from 18th to 20th June 2024.
Inaugurating the auspicious event, Prof. Ashis K. Mukherjee, Director of IASST, highlighted the science behind the ancient practice of yoga, which has now become a global phenomenon of community welfare and self-resilience. He aimed to introduce the benefits of yoga to the IASST community and encourage daily practice for a healthier lifestyle. The celebration’s highlight was a yoga demonstration session by esteemed yoga guru Mr. Debajit Nath, Founder of Durlav Yoga Centre. Mr. Nath spoke passionately about the extensive benefits of this ancient practice on physical and mental health and guided participants through various yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditation practices, showcasing several remarkable Asanas designed to address everyday and common health issues.
