Prof. S.C Bordoloi

RESEARCH AREA

The key area where my team has made its presence felt both in India and abroad is exploration and documentation of fauna (Amphibia, Snake, fish and aquatic biodiversity) in some remote areas dotted with inhospitable and inaccessible terrains spread over the four states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur. Comprehensive biological study of a number of species of frog (12 species) and fish (16 species) of commercial and ecological importance has been completed. Molecular taxonomy of a number of species is in progress

In eco-restoration study a technology has been developed for phyto assisted bioremediation by selecting indigenous plant species and isolating native hydrocarbon degrading bacteria with the financial assistance from Oil India Limited, Duliajan and first field trial has been completed where up to 85% of Total petroleum hydrocarbon reduction in oil and sludge contaminated field has been achieved
