It is important to follow the following guidelines when preparing your thesis for submission.
- Copyright in other people’s work:
Seek permission to reproduce extracts from books, articles, images, figures for which you do not own the copyright (you can use works that are out of copyright without permission).
- Copyright in own work:
Seek permission to reproduce your own published papers, images, etc. in your thesis. Before you do, check which rights were transferred to the publisher at the time you signed the publishing agreement – look in the ‘rights retained’ section or search the publisher’s website for information on authors’ rights.
- Plagiarism:
Acknowledge other people’s ideas and work.
