3rd All India Scientific and Technical Official Language Conference Concludes at IASST, Guwahati

The 3rd All India Scientific and Technical Official Language Conference successfully concluded today, 14 November 2025, at the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati. The two-day conference was held from 13–14 November, brought together scientists, engineers, and research scholars from across India to advance the use of Hindi in scientific and technical communication.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Ashis Kumar Mukherjee, Director of IASST. Prof. Mukherjee emphasized the need to promote science through Hindi and highlighted the broader scientific significance of the conference.

The inaugural session was graced by Mrs. A. Dhanalakshmi, Joint Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and Mr. Rajiv Kumar Nayak from the Central Implementation Office (Northeast), Guwahati. Senior officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology were also present, offering valuable insights and support. In her address, Mrs. Dhanalakshmi stressed the need to use the tools developed by the Rajbhasha Department, noting that these have made the use of Hindi much easier in official contexts. Later Abstract Book was unveiled.

In the conference six (6) key note speaker and around 50 participants from various DST autonomous institutions attended the conference. The primary aim of the event was to encourage the dissemination of scientific knowledge in Hindi in a simple, accessible, and engaging manner, thereby strengthening linguistic harmony within India’s scientific community. Over the two days, approximately 25 technical research papers in Hindi were presented, showcasing innovative work taking place across different autonomous institutes.

A vibrant cultural programme was also organized, reflecting the rich heritage of the region.

During the valedictory session, participants expressed their satisfaction and praised IASST for successfully organizing the two-day conference. Prof. Devasish Chowdhury, in his vote of thanks, acknowledged the collective efforts of the IASST fraternity in conducting the conference and ensuring its success.
