Research Area in Brief:

I and my group is focusing on secondary metabolites produced by microbes isolated from various environmental niches, including extreme environments, for sustainable applications. My research targets microbes for their potential to produce value-added compounds such as pigments, enzymes, bioactive compounds, and polymers. We screen and study these compounds for their therapeutic, agricultural, and industrial applications. Additionally, we aim to enhance their applications using immobilization and nanotechnology approaches. The therapeutic applications of the bioactive compounds primarily target the management of hyperuricemia-induced diseases, such as gouty arthritis and nephrolithiasis/urolithiasis.

The projects carried in my lab are:

  1. Microbes for value-added compound productions.
  2. Micro-encapsulation of bioactive compounds and enzymes.
  3. Extremophiles for their industrial and agriculture applications.
  4. Management of hyperuricemic induced diseases using bioactive compounds from microbes and medicinal plants.
