IASST Research Scholar Leads Chorus Rendition of ‘Vande Matram’ to Mark 150 Years of the Iconic Song

Guwahati: In a heartfelt tribute to one of India’s most cherished national songs,  research scholars from the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) led a stirring chorus rendition of Vande Mataram as part of commemorations marking 150 years since the song’s creation. In alignment with the Republic Day theme commemorating 150 years of Vande Matram, research scholars Twisampati Das, Arijeet Paul, Ananya Konwar, Rajashree Saha, Nabajit Barman, Galab Deka, presented a chorus rendition of Vande Matram, evoking deep patriotism among the audience. The performance brought together students, scholars, and faculty members in celebration of India’s cultural and patriotic legacy. The program was coordinated by Nodal Officer for Vande Matram Shri. Sachin C Narwadiya Scientist D at IASST.

The chorus performance highlighted the enduring relevance of Vande Matram, originally composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1876. Sung collectively, the rendition symbolized unity, shared heritage, and respect for the nation’s freedom movement, where the song played a powerful role in inspiring generations. The research scholar’s initiative underscored how academic spaces can also serve as vibrant platforms for cultural expression and national remembrance.

On the occasion, participants noted that commemorating 150 years of Vande Matram was not only a musical homage but also a reminder of the song’s historical significance and emotional resonance. The event at IASST blended scholarship with patriotism, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to nurturing socially and culturally conscious researchers alongside scientific excellence
