On 7th February 2022 (Monday) Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati fraternity mourned the death of the Legendary singer popularly known as the ‘Nightingale of India’ and Bharat Ratna recipient Lata Mangeshkar at the age of 92 due to a multi-organ failure in Mumbai on Sunday. Ms. Anushree Saikia, a research scholar, read out the life sketch and achievements of late Lat Ji. Addressing a condolence meeting, Prof. Ashis Mukherjee, Director, IASST, said that she was a living legend and the demise of Lata Mangeshkar Ji is an irreparable loss to the world. However, her magical voice shall remain in the heart of people and coming generations. Dr. D. Choudhry, a faculty said that we had lost the melodious voice of the country. Dr. D. Goswami, the Registrar, said that we are grown up listening to her beautiful songs, and she will always be remembered. The IASST fraternity offered floral tribute, observed a two-minute silence as a mark of homage to the departed soul, and expressed condolences to her family members and music lovers.
