IASST has organized an orientation programme for students and post-doctoral fellows who joined between September 2022 and January 2033 on 31st January 2023. The objective of this orientation programme was to provide information and awareness necessary to help students and post-doctoral fellows acclimatize to institute life. The program was attended by institutional JRFs, AcSIR Ph.D. students, post-doctoral fellows, IASST faculties, HODs, and administrative staff’s Among the newly joined students, eight institutional JRF, 22 AcSIR Ph.D. students, and three post-doctoral fellows attended the program.
The programme started with screening a short video on activities of IASST, followed by a welcome speech by the Deputy Registrar, Academic. The newly joined research scholars have introduced themselves to the house. Following this, the Hon’ble Director, Prof. Asish K. Mukherjee, addressed the gathering. In his speech, the Director of IASST talked about the institute’s research facilities and encouraged students to work dedicatedly for the betterment of the institute. He stated that successful research scholars are inspired by 3Ds (Determination, Dedication, and Drive). After that, Dr. Rajlakshmi Devi, HoD, LSD, addressed the gathering. In her speech, Dr. R. Devi highlighted the development of the Life Science Division (LSD) and the research program of LSD. Prof. Neelotpal Sen Sarma, Head of, the Physical Science Division, spoke about research areas under the PSD and the research facility available in the division. Dr. Arup Ratan Pal, Head SAIC, in his address to the gathering, has spoken about the SAIC facility of IASST and has updated students about the sample submission/analysis process through SAIC. Dr. Munima B. Sahariah, Head R&D talked about the R&D cell of the institute and its primary functions in managing EMG and in-house projects
Dr. Diganta Goswami, Registrar, IASST made aware about administrative and security rules. Dr. Subir Biswas, Hostel Warden have spoken about the hostel admission process. Mr. Bijuphukan Bhagabati, IT Cell In-charge has spoken about the role of the IT Cell in providing IT-related service to the students. After this the students and post-doctoral fellows visited the Knowledge Resource center (KRC) and Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Cell (SAIC) of IASST. The programme was ended with proposing vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Nirmali Devi, Hindi Assistant, IASST.
