Lunar Eclipse observed by IASST students and staff

Guwahati, 5 May 2023: IASST observed a penumbral lunar eclipse with its astronomical Telescope on 5th May 2023. Eclipse starts at 8:44 pm and ends at 1:01 am. Penumbral lunar eclipses are a rare celestial event because they are often difficult to observe. The dimming effect of the Earth’s penumbra is often subtle. It can be difficult to distinguish from the natural variations in the Moon’s brightness caused by changes in its position and orientation.
